WIN 7 Defragger design flaw
I can capture the individual panels from the Task Scheduler and put them here if you'd like, just to make sure you have everything set the same way. Haven't seen that problem myself. Have you done anything to try to lean down your system, such as disable services? You might search the forum for that message... Seems to me I saw something about it though it was a long time ago. Best of luck getting that worked out. -Noel Detailed how-to in my eBook: In development: Configure The Windows 7 "To Work" Options Configure The Windows 8 "To Work" Options

I have it set to run on a schedule -- the first of each month at 7 AM -- but when I checked on it yesterday I found it hadn't run since Thanksgiving, which was the last time I ran it manually. If I change the power options to "never" then it runs fine, but when I forget to do that and leave my desk for more than five minutes, I come back and find it has stalled after about five minutes work.

Hm, it seems it must be something specific to your system, then. Hm, I thought of something when capturing the above image... You mentioned changing the schedule from the default to once a month. There are some "stop if" conditions in the scheduler itself. Have you reviewed all of those settibngs thoroughly? I was able to find several tasks that Apple and other companies had scheduled, but nothing related to the defragger. How did you get to the first screen in your series?

It's the only entry once I navigate into Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Defrag. -Noel Detailed how-to in my eBook: In development: Configure The Windows 7 "To Work" Options Configure The Windows 8 "To Work" Options

I normally have my power settings set for the display to power down after five minutes and the system "never". When I try to use the included defragger with Win 7, it apparently stops working as soon as the display powers down. This seems like a silly design and I wish somebody would fix it!

I take it that it's not running on its schedule? It always runs OK for me, and my displays are almost always powered-down when it runs 1am on Wednesday. Maybe something else it needs is being powered-down also at that same 5 minute time frame? There are a number of settings, and you can check them via these steps... Go into your Power Options panel, then click Change Plan Settings over to the right of your selected plan. Now click the Change Advanced Power Settings link.Review all the individual settings. -Noel Detailed how-to in my eBook: In development: Configure The Windows 7 "To Work" Options Configure The Windows 8 "To Work" Options
