WIN 7 Clean install IE8 Won't print to network printer
I clean installed WIN7 RC, IE8 will not print to network printer. Win7 Prints fine from all other programs including Firefox. No attempt, nothing in print que from IE8. I can print to CutePDF writer from IE8, but not the network printer. I've tried disabling all add-ons and reset to defaults in IE8. no help with either.

Here's a brute-force guess: Go to InternetOptions > Security > Local Intranet > Sites >Advanced. Then key-in your printer IP address.Like I said, that's a total guess. But you'll see some other clues in the steps.

Hi, Does it work on local printer? Does it work after disabling "Protected Mode" in Internet Explorer? If so, please understand that currently by default Internet Explorer executes in the "Protected Mode". In this mode the Internet Explorer application has privileges of creating files only under certain directories. When we print to the printer through Internet Explorer, the driver creates a temporary file under %WINDIR%/system32/. It fails due to lack of permissions and causes the problem to appear. I have the following workarounds: 1- Turn of "Protected Mode" on Internet Explorer (Tools > Internet Options > Security)2- Run Internet Explorer as an Administrator (Start > Programs > Internet Explorer > Right-click > Choose "Run as Administrator"3- Use a non Multi-Function Printer Hope it helps.

I cannot get IE8 to print to my Dell AOI962 network printer. All other programs print fine. It does print when I turn off protected mode in the security options (the local intranet suggestion does not work), but I keep getting the 'nag' becasue it is off. I am using Windows 7 upgrdaed from Vista, with all current updates.I'd like to use protected mode, but need to print from IE8. How can I do that?I did notice that the User/profile/AppData/Temp/Local/Low folder is flagged "reaad only", but every time I try removing that flag, it immediately goes back to "read-only".
