WINDOWS XP STARTS TO LOAD. STOPS LOADING AND VERTICAL LINES APPEAR ON MONITOR. LAST FEW DAYS ONLY. CAN NOT USE COMPUTER.
WHEN STARTING UP MESSAGE READS WINDOWS WAS SHUT DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY. GIVES LIST OF POSSIBLE CAUSES AND ASKS IF WANT WINDOWS TO START NORMALLY. THEN IT STARTS AND LINES APPEAR ON MONITOR. HELP PLEASE....RUNNING SP2 ALSO1 person got this answerI do too

Thanks for your reply. I tried this before posting the question. It will not let me restore to last known good configuration either...

For everyone's benefit...I started the computer in safe mode by turning it on and pressing F8 multiple times. Followed directions on MS site above for starting in safe mode. Had to restart computer a few times but it will now start normally. I will update to SP3 now that I am able to get back on the computer...
