Try Belarc Advisor, it will give a complete computer profile including "Keys" for Microsoft products and some other software installed. Also indicates what secirity updates are required or those that have failed installation. Once installed it will check for updates to keep current with security updates from Microsoft. Quite useful if you have no documentation, usually the case with used machines.
