WIFI adapter doesn't work without standby
This one is interesting: I run Windows XP on Asus laptop. My built-in wireless adapter doesn't see any wifi networks after I boot the machine. It only starts seeing them and can connect OK after I wake the machine after standby. I assume the problem is with adapter since I can get stable connection and it all works fine. But only after I go through this stand-by routine. The machine can connect to LAN without stand-by. I tried to turn on the adapter with a switch, with hot keys - doesn't work until i go to standby and then wake it up.

Try updating the wireless network driver. If you go through asus and use their latest "bundled" driver and it then it still doesnt work. Go to the actually manufacturer of the netowrk card and download their original driver. Sometimes companies add extra "features" to the original drivers and that causes issues.www.mypchealth.co.uk

My asus has Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 2915ABG adapter. Installed the newer version of the driver from Intel's web site. The problem persists. Will try the driver from Asus.
