WHY CAN'T I MERGE/EXTEND MY PARTITION ...PLEASE HELP TQ :)

Hi,

I'm Simon and i have been having a problem with my hard disk management. I actually own a 1TB HDD and have

a few partitions that was created a long time ago. However, i had 600+ Mb's unused and not in a partition.

Now that my primary partition is almost full i wanted to extend my space using disk managment but it was grayed out.

I have even tried creating a partition for the 600+ Mb's and tried to shrink and extend but nothing seem to work.

I have attached the screenshot for your kind review.

Please help....i really appreciate it. Thank You :)

You need a 3rd party app like easeUS partition magic.  You cannot do it with the built in utility

Hi,

Without 3rd party software, You may move the data from Drive D to other drives and delete the Drive D. After that you may extend Drive C to the original Drive D. Because only the continuous unallocated space can be extended. For the detailed steps, please refer to the following Microsoft TechNet articles:

Extend a Basic Volume

Shrink a Basic Volume

how to do move a partition with 3th party software exactly? I really want to know that.

In disk management, you can only extend partition using the unallocated space next to its right side.I actually once had this same problem. I sorted it out with a free software named AOMEI Partition Assistant, which has the ability to move partition.it can extend partition as long as there is unallocated space on that hard drive.

Disk Management extend volume always be greyed out if there isn't unallocated space near by it. So you'd better use a third party software, and I recommend you download the AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard, which is free and it can solve most of partition problems for Windows PC users.
