WHS Connector Install Issue With Win7 RC
I have just completed a clean install of Win 7 RC on my Media Center machine. It runs on a hardwired network with a Linksys wrt600n router at the center of the network. My WHS has all of the current updates intalled (PP2). I can connect to all of the shared folders, move content around, access content through Media Center and rdp into the WHS from the Win7 RC machine. But, I cannot install the connector client. I am able to reach the "software" folder on the WHS (both through windows explorer and through \\*myserver*:55000). Intallation goes well and files are installed on the Win7 RC machine. At the end of the installation it says "looking for server" and then an entry screen for the server password comes up. When I put in the password, I get an error message saying that the server could not be connected and to try again later. I have seen several posts on similar issues, but still cannot get it to work after about 4 hours of trying. I have disconnedted my DSL modem and tried it. Still not working. I have other computers on the network (Vista and Win7 build 7000) that have the connector installed and are working fine. But, I have tried to install it on 3 separate (2 desktop and 1 laptop) Win7 RC machines and the same thing happen in all cases. I have run the connector toolkit and get two errors: 1) Version of the Connector Software is not correct (i am taking it directly from the WHS which should be the most up to date); 2) DHCP server cannot be found. The IP address of the WHS and the Win7 PC are both fixed. I have even put the WHS IP address and name into the hosts file on the Win7 machine. Thanks for any help that you can provide.

I am using the Windows firewall in Win7. Have even tried the install with the Firewall turned off. Here is a link to another place where I am working this issue. You can find some more detail. Thanks.http://forum.wegotserved.com/index.php?showtopic=8317&st=0&gopid=51869&#entry51869

I also have a similar problem; however I was able to install the connector on two W7 RC 64 bitcomputers and it all worked fine. Had a MB failure on one but the other computer still worked fine. Replaced with a new MB and restored from WHS to the "new" computer and then neither computer would connect to the WHS. Then I check my Vista 64 bit computer and it would no longer connect. My wife's computer connects fine. I have changed passwords on all of the non connecting PC's and the WHS in hopes of making them work but alas no work.If it works, work on it until it is broke.
