WDDM Service Not Running
Why does this service not work automatically all the time when it is "setup" to be automatic. I have to re-start the computer 3 times sometimes in order to get it working. If I try to "start" the service after getting the message I receive a error 1053: indicating it couldn't start the service in a timely manner. What can be done to be sure it "starts" the service in a "timely manner". Your help is greatly appreciated...

Hi Sharon,When exactly do you get the error message? You may run System File Checker [SFC] scan on the computer which will replace the missing or corrupt files & check if the issue persists.a. Type ‘cmd’ in Start > Run box. Right click on cmd in the Program list and then select the option Run as administrator. b. Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannowFor more information refer this link.Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)Hope the information helps. SharonYou need to say which service is causing the problem as there seem to be two services with the same acronymWDDM!"WD Smartware Drive Manager Service" -in this case WD stands for Western Digital a provider of hard drives.Windows Display Driver Model -you have a driver issue relating to your graphics card -Nvidia or another.Select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services and find the Service in the list.Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell
