My laptop has windows 7 on it, i usually just put it to sleep, but now when i turn it back on, all my desktop machines (vista and w7) wake up when i log in to my laptop. Is there a way to stop this?

Hi, Are you using a router or switch? I suggest that you boot in Clean Boot Mode on the Windows 7 RC computer. Lets disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue. You may view Event Log on each computers and find the reason why systems resume from Sleep Mode. Please check "Kernel Power" related events in the log "Windows Logs"\"System" If the reasons are unknown, please capture network trace with Network Monitor. Please download Microsoft Monitor from the following website. Download details Microsoft Network Monitor 3.3 Please refer the following article to capture network trace. How to capture network traffic with Network Monitor Please capture network trace logs from the Windows 7 RC computer and another problematic computer, then save them in the SkyDrive of your Live Space, and give us the link to directly access it.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Thanks, I will try that this weekend. I doubt a third-party app is doing it as I've only installed Firefox and Pidgin, but grabbing the event log and network capture will definitely help. I am assuming I would have to grab the capture from a 3rd computer as my Windows 7 machine will be asleep as will one of the PCs that I'm testing with.
