W7 VPN connection with Windows XP Pro
Hi, would like to have my father connect to my W7 network on his XP Pro machine. have not had any luck. on his computer it said that I may have to change some settings to connect. We are both behind routers and I am not sure how to set up the IP configuration. IP ranges are a bit of a mystery. I live in N part of the state and he is in the south. I have open ports ( can I use any ports? 1723 is what it is set at but can I use others?) A little help please

If you want to connect to VPN, a VPN server is required. If you want to connect via Remote Desktop, you need to have the public IP of the remote computer. Also map the 3389 port of the router to your computer. In this case, I think the most solid solution is using Remote Assistance.
