W7 Ultimate shows AMDx64 architecture on Intel I7 machine
Will this cause a problem with drivers? If so, how do I correct? I can't seem to get installation to recognize nor install the correct drivers for my printer although it worked fine in W7RC.Anyway to uninstall the printerdrivers? All I get now is unknwon device error.

Thank you, I have done that with HP drivers for W7. No cure available. How about the "architecture" reporting error? Does that have an effect on how driver's are installed?

Hi, Before going any further, I would like to confirm the following information: 1. Where you find out the architecture reporting problem? 2. What printer driver cannot install and what error is received? To reinstall printer drivers, you can perform the following steps: First, remove printer from the "Device and Printers", then type APPWIZ.CPL in the Start Search and press Enter. Remove the printer software. If it cannot be removed, try the following steps: Clean up driver information from the Registry: ========================================= Before we go any further, please first backup the Registry. 1. Click Start, type REGEDIT in the Start Search bar and press Enter. 2. Select Computer (the root node) in the left pane, click Export under the File menu, choose All under Export range, select Desktop in the Save in box and type backup in File Name. click Save. Please Note: The backup file is on the Desktop and named backup.reg. We can simply restore the registry by double-clicking the backup.reg file. 3. Click "Start", type in "regedit" in Search bar and press "Enter". 4. Browse to the following registry key by clicking the PLUS (+) sign: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers 5. Click the PLUS (+) sign to expand Printers key. All printer drivers which have been installed on your computer will be listed there. Please right click the subkey of the problematic printer in it on the left pane and click "Delete". 8. Close Registry Editor. Clear up driver information in Safe Mode ==================================== 1. Restart your computer in Safe Mode. To do so, restart the computer; Keep press F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears; choose "Safe Mode", and press "Enter". Note: In Safe Mode, your system display and Desktop will look and perform differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary. 2. The recommended HP HP Universal Printing PCL 6 (v5.0). Actually it installs, but it has no hardware for it.When I loaded W7 RC, it installed a universal driver for the HP CLJ 4500n that worked. When I upgraded to W7 Ulitimate, it did not.Now I get two unkown devices on my USB hub with a Code (43).One troubleshooter had me download a Marvell 63xx driver that was incompatible with W7.Your steps were most thorough and I appreciate your time and insight. I followed them, but still cannot get traction on why unknown devices appear where before my printer was recognized and drivers installed by default.I will look at this again later.Thank you.

Hi, Code 43 indicates that Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. You can try installing the driver in compatible mode: 1. Right click on the installation file (setup.exe) and click Properties. 2. Click on the Compatibility tab. 3. Select Run this program in compatibility mode for. 4. Choose Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) from the drop down list. 5. Select Run this program as an administrator option under the Privilege Level topic. 6. Click Apply, click OK. Right click on the setup file and choose Run as administrator to install it again. If the issue persists, do not forget collecting the screenshot of the errors.Vivian Xing - MSFT

Here are the screens. There are two devices, one of which seems to be my HP Printer as it doesn't print and the other is Wireless Logitech MX1100 for which the drivers are also loaded.Hmmm.....no way to load screen shots? Thank you, Andre!

Hi, amd64 is ok, because AMD first introduced the mainstream 64Bit CPUs (AMD Opteron) and MS didn't want to code a new 64Bit Windows for Intel CPUs. Could you please check details tab, which device IDs do you see? With the IDs we can see which device it is. Not very illuminating, I am afraid. No idea where "motherbaord driver " would be and W7 was not included in operating systems when Asus PT6 Revolution was released.

Unfortunately a lot of machines are not well suited to Windows 7. If you cannot find drivers for your peripherals you can try legacy drivers, but they tend to not work all the time. Users of the 32-bit version of Windows 7 have had better experiences with old drivers than with the 64-bit edition. Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! The AMD64 architecture is licensed by Intel and was known as EMT64. Today its generally known as x64 for want of a generic name for the CPU. Ignore the architecture, use the CPUID data to intefy the actually CPU you have. You can get the CPU information from the system, press the Windowos ket + pause/break Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! Yes, I know how to identify system properties. Just couldn't understand why AMD was used when there isn't an AMD cmponent other than the ATI graphics card on this system.

As already told to you, AMD64 was the internal codename for the x64 Version of Windows, because AMD was first with creating a x64 desktop CPU."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/
