Sister in law's notebook on Vista HP stopped any sort of updating at end of Oct last year. After trying to find an answer, a couple of weeks ago I upgraded it to Win 7 HP thinking it might solve the issue. It didn't and could not update SP1 for win 7. Next step was to reimage and start again, but as an after thought I took my Dodo/Optus modem down and tried it in place of her 3 modem. Started automatically downloading 200+ Mb of updates straight away. Now all up to date, SP 1 installed and the 3 modem is again working fine on automatic update. Go figure!
