Vista ultimate can only partially view windows 2008 server shares
My Vista Ultimate machine is part of a domain. I have desktop, my docs, app data redirected, and mapped network drive all to the same server. My profile is roaming and stored on the same server. I can log in and it loads my profile but the mapped drive doesn't connect. When i browse to the server it takes about 60 seconds to load the files are stored on the only shared folder I can see is the folder that contains my profile and redirected folders. There are many shared folders on the server, but I can only see that one I'm not sure what's going on here. I can ping the server by name and IP. Browsing by ip doesn't yield any different results. Any thoughts on what might be going on or how I can troubleshoot this issue?

Hi, Does this specific user account or all user accounts in the domain encounter this issue? This issue can occur if the following conditions are true: Access-Based Enumeration is enabled. This user account has not permission to access those share folders. As a result, please confirm if the user account has read permission to those share folders.

I'm not sure, all other accounts are fine but are logging in under XP. When I log this account in on an XP machine it seems to work fine as well. ABE is enabled. The Everyone group has full control on the top lvl share. It seems that when things start going wrong I can only see or access folders that have my username explicitly given permission permission. I reboot theserver and access to everything is restored, but typically that only lasts for 5-6 hours before I can't access the files anymore. Not quite sure. I suppose the next time it cuts off access to files I can attempt adding my user account explicitly to the share permissions and not just using the everyone group.

The issue has recurred, it seems less frequent as I can go a day or two without it happening. Also when trying to copy large ammounts of data to the vista machine from any machine (around 600mb or more) I get a server cannot perform the requested operation. Or a "not enough server storage available to process the command" --there is more than enough disk space to perform the operation. Rebooting the vista machine allows me to copy to it again. Any thoughts? Are these issues related?

Hi, Yes, I think they may be related. I suspect that it is performance issue, the system may run out of resources such as paged pool memory. Therefore, the issue disappears every time you restart the system. Based on my experience, we need to collect related dump file, performance monitor and memory pool monitor to analyze/troubleshoot this kind of issue. However, please understand that debugging is out of our Forum support boundary. Id like to recommend that you contact Microsoft Customer Support Service (CSS) for assistance, the support professionals there are better qualified to assist you. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS Before that, you could perform the following actions to troubleshoot the issue: 1. Perform a clean boot in Windows Vista. How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vistahttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 2. If SP1 has not been installed, please install the Windows Vista SP1 on this machine in order to fix the related issues. 3. After that, monitor to check if the issue will reoccur. Hope it helps.

A reboot of the server clears the issue not the vista machine. SP1 is installed. Also if I attempt to log on using a virtual xp machine from the vista computer using the same account info it logs in fine and I can see all shares. So the while i'm logged in to the vista machine locallyIcannot see the shares, but the virtual xp machine logged in as merunning on the vista machine can see the shares. It definitely seems to be an issue with Vista to 2008 connectivity. Any other suggestions?
