Vista turns off my internet when it shuts down
All right so I am dual booting between vista 64 bit and ubuntu 64 bit and everytimes I restart the computer from vista to log into ubuntu the ethernet light on the modem/router (whatever it is called) turns orange or it just turns off rather than being green. I then go into ubuntu and I have no internet and the ethernet light remains orange. Is this vista turning off my internet as a security measure and how can I prevent it from doing this? I was able to get online in ubuntu before but it just stopped working yesterday. I have a realtek rtl8168c/8111c family pci-e gigabit ethernet nic (ndis 6.0). If anyone has any experience with dual booting between ubuntu and vista I would love to get some help. Thank you in advance.

HiVista is not the problem here. I assume your router has multiple LEDs. Wich one turns off? The one that has the cable that goes to your PC or the one that has your ISP cable? Is Ubuntu recognizing the ethernet card?

Yes, I have vonage and the router lights are labeled power, ethernet, and internet. It is the ethernet light that either goes off or turns orange. Ubuntu is recognizing the ethernet card and I was online a few days ago, after selecting the ubuntu in the bootloader the ethernet light would light back up but suddenly it just stopped working and I have no internet. Any other ideas.

Hi, I agree that it is not a Windows Vista issue, the Windows Vista has been turned off when you use the ubuntu system. If its possible, I suggest that you replace your Router with a new one and check the results. If everything works fine with the new Router, you should contact the Vonage manufacturer for further assistance.
