Vista slow to open a network share for the first time?
I have 3 Vista PCs and a Server 2003 computer all ona Gigabit LAN. For some reason if I try to open shares on any Vista system using \\computername\share it takes quite a while for the window to open. Once I have actually accessed the share it performs normally. If I close and reopen the share its not as fast as I like, but not as slow as the initial access was. Once I reboot its all slow again. Any idea what causes this long delay for opening a share?

I'm going to try this tonight.. so far 1 PC accessing the server seems faster.. working on the other vista machine as soon as its not in use. (vista to vista is the slower of the two normally)

Well, so far so good. It seems to have helped remove that long delay when trying to open a share for the first time. Thanks for the help!
