Vista not seeing NAS drives connected via a switch
Hi allI'm after a bit of advice, due to space and number of sockets available I'm playing around with my network to move to NAS drives to another room. The current basic layout of the network is:Netgear DG834T Router:Port 1 goes to main PcPort 2 goes to PS3Port 3 goes to Lacie NASPort 4 goes tospare roomPCWhat I want to do is:Port 1 goes to main PcPort 2 goes to PS3Port 3 goes to a switch inspare room, of which.......Port 1 goes tospare roomPc......(Port 2 goes to Lacie NAS - not yet connected, still on DG834T).......Port 3 goes to Buffalo NASI need to get a new, faster switch, but just tested configuration with a netgear FS104 10M/bit switch, but I don't like what i'm seeing. The main pc can see both NAS drives and thespare roomPc, but thespare roomPc is uanble to see both NAS drives, yet can see the main Pc.View from main Pc:spare roomPcRouterLacie NASBuffalo NASLacie NAS (media server)Buffalo NAS (media server)View fromspare roomPcRouterMain PcLacie NAS (media server)Buffalo NAS (media server)I am unable to map either NAS to thespare roomPc. However in the original configuration without the switch thespare roomPc can see the Lacie NAS and it can be mapped. Both Pc's use Windows Vista 32 bit with SP1 installed.I hope that makes sense and someone can helpMatt

Hi Matt, Thank you for posting. Please capture screenshots on where you see the computers and NAS drives on both PCs. 1) Press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard. 2) Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter. 3) In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save". 4) The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot". 5) Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click Desktop on the left pane and then click "Save". Please use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the file and share the URL with me. Meanwhile, pleasecheck the following and let me know the results: 1. If you have another network device which has enough ports, please try to connect these devices together to see how it works. 2. If possible, please change the locations of the Main PC and Spare Room PC and check it results. Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
