Hi.Im running Vista 32bit and have just installed the service pack 1 patch. Since then i have not been able to connect to my router. My network card is the inbuilt network adapter in the Asus Striker Extreme motherboard.When i ping my modem/router (Netgear DG834G v3) i recieve no response, and when trying to connect to the router via a browser the connection always times out.The only exception to this is one time when i connected another pc to the same router, a box saying "connecting to internet" appeared on my not working pc and suddenly it connected. After that it worked for another 3 days (without the other pc connected), and then for no reason stoped working again.The network centre says connected to "Unidentified Network" with an "X" between network and internet.I have tested the cables and router connections and often run other PC's off the same router. I have also tried different static ip address set ups with no success. I also have the latest drivers installed.Please help... i want to play spore!!! =P

I see you haven't mentioned whether or not you have re-run the network setup wizard or checked your services to make sure Windows Firewall is disabled (at least temporarily for troubleshooting purposes) Why don't you try those and let us know what happens...

I have the same problem. I haven't been able to use this computer in about 18 months since I got frustrated and started using my laptop as my main computer, but now, I'm going to resolve this problem and use it - I need it, & not as a $800.00 boat anchor. It connects to the router but local access only.. no internet. I have run the network set up so many times, it's probably burning into my screen... I have disabled and enabled the internal usb modem. It still stays as local only... I'm at a loss, and yes it's on vista.
