Vista not able to renew IP address coming out of sleep
We have been having this niggly issue that we believe is causing other problems being reported by our users when their Vista SP1 pc's resume from sleep. Among all of our 400+ PC's we receive Event ID 1003 - DHCP-Client "Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network". It looks to us as if the NIC is not waking up fast enough to actually renew its lease from the DHCP server. I should mention that about 30 seconds after this warning, the PC does renew its IP address and all is fine. But in the interim, this is causing random issue on some client PCs (i.e. Kerberos authentication failing etc.). What I would like to know is, if there is any way to address not receiving this warning and have the NIC renew its lease right away when woken up. Thanks, Ben

Hi Ben, Regarding the issue, please refer to the following Knowledge Base: The default gateway setting is lost when you wake a Windows Vista-based computer from sleep http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933872 Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
