Vista network and sharing center PROBLEM in a domain enviroment
Hi,we have a problem here and maybe somone of you knows the answer!network is a microsoft only network wth 1 DC + GC on 2003 R2 x64with exchange 2007and the other one is a windows serve 2008 (the problem existed also with 2 2003 dc)So and now the problem is that all of our notebooks when they start here in the office with the network cable pluged in! the network and sharing center isnt comming up the printers dont work and all programms that depends on the printers (word excel etc) dont work.!the problem exists quite long (also befor sp1) if i make a clean install on one of the notebooks the problem disapears for a while but then it comes up again..... we think it happens when the wlan card is active and the network cable plugged at the same time. but thats only a theory.....the other theory is that some printer driver is corupton google i found only thesolution to set the local service account as administrator but that didnt workedall notebooks are from maxdata/belinea some are old some are new....i would be realy happy if someone has even an idea where i can look since the eventlog is empty and there are 30 clients with that problem including my big boss ;) thanks msgis

Hi, Could you please check the Network Location Type when the issue occurs? For your reference: File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista (Section: Setting the Network Location Type) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx New Networking Features in Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb726965.aspx#EDAA In addition, did you check the IPCONFIG result when the issue occurs? Thanks.

Hi, You can check it in Windows Firewall. Open Windows Firewall, you will see a item: Network Location. Hope it helps.

Hi, Thank you for your update. The issue should be a known issue like following KB symptom: The network connectivity status incorrectly appears as "Local only" on a Windows Server 2008-based or Windows Vista-based computer that has more than one network adapter http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947041 Hope it helps.
