Hi,1. Are the clients (xp+Vista) set to automatically receive IP configuration from the router?2. If not, have you configured static IP addresses on them and specified the router as the gateway?3. Have you configured the router with the connection settings from your ISP?

Hi,1. I think so, but I'll double check. Should they both be automatically receive IP configuration?2. & 3. The router has been installed for quite a while, with both my PC and Xbox 360 connected to it. Both can connect to the internet with no problems. Both PC and laptop have the same computer name under workgroup. Should I change that of the router as well?Since I can't connect to the laptop to the net, I can't even download any patch or SP if there's one. Thanks!

Hello, In order to know your current network situation, let us collect information first. 1. Start, copy and paste cmd in the Start Search box. 2. Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL and click Enter. 3. Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in your response here. Connect the laptop with a wired connection to the router and let me know the issue. In addition, we might perform the instruction below to narrow down the cause of the issue. 1. Enable the DHCP feature on the wireless router. 2. Select the Obtain an IP address automatically on the Windows Vista Client machine. 3. Temporarily disable/uninstall all Anti-Virus firewalls or programs. 4. Delete the redundant proxy information in Internet Explorer 7. 5. Reset IE7 Settings 1) Click Start button-> Control Panel. 2) Change to Classic View on the left pane and double-click the Internet Options icon. 3) On the Security tab, click Default level button for each icon in the Select a zone to view or change security settings. 4) Click to Programs tab, and then click the Make default button if it is not grayed out. 5) Click to Advanced tab, click Restore advanced settings button in the Settings area. 6) Click the Reset button in the Reset Internet Explorer settings area and Click OK. 7) Click Apply, and then click OK. Good Luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions. My friend came over last night and fixed it. I think this is what he did (not in order):1. a complete reset of the router2. turned off wireless on Vista laptop3. connected the Vista laptop to the modem directly with a cable and did the "introduction" thing4. uninstalled the Norton 360 on the Vista laptop5. connected the Vista laptop to the router directly with a cable and did the "introduction" thing6. reset firewall configuration because he turned it off on the laptop when he did his thingHe said it's a very common problem with Vista laptops.

Thanks! That sounds like what my friend did, except the IE7 part and he reset the router completely.
