Vista dropping wireless connection
I have multiple computers using a wireless network and recently put my gaming computer on a wireless connection but very fequently I will lose connection. I am using the Linksys ( Cisco ) USB wireless adpater for all my computers but the vista one is the only one that continually loses signal. There is a green light on the adapter that is on when working and sometimes flashes but it constantly goes dark and the red "x" appears over the computer icon on the lower right of the toolbar. I have to unplug the adapter and reinsert it before I can connect again. The down side is that I am continually dropped from my online session. I looked for updates but no luck. Where can I find it or what is the fix? -Windows vista home premium Intel core2 duo e8500 3.16Ghz 32 bit operating system wireless n connection

Hi, This behavior occurs if the driver of the network adapter is not compatible with Windows Vista. I suggest that you manually download the Windows Vista compatible driver and install it. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C1&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1166859840888&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=4088837314B06&displaypage=download Select the driver for the correct product, download it. Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information. Then, I suggest that you remove the existed driver first. Remove ==================== 1. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "devmgmt.msc" and press Enter. 2. Expand "Network Adapters", double-click on the entry of the wireless network device. 3. Click the tab "Driver", click "Uninstall". 4. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter. 5. Remove the entries related to the wireless network adapter. After installing the latest driver, is the issue resolved? If not, I suggest that you temporary disable the anti-virus and firewall on the Windows Vista computer. Also, please do not use any third party wireless connection management programs, but manually crate the connection with the wizard in Windows Vista. If the issue still occurs, please let me know the model of the wireless adapter. Also, please let me know if your computer is from computer manufacturer or built by yourself.
