Vista crashes with STOP 0x000000ab when leaving remote connection (mstsc from XP)
I read a lot of posts, still I don't have a solution:Almost every time I close my remote desktop connection opened from an XP machine on the same subnet, I experience a bsod on the vista machine that was remotely controlled, when I want to close the session - or when I want to resume it locally. The STOP error always looks the same (unfortunately I don't have a foto, and I don't find the data I used to find on XP machines when sending a stop error to Microsoft, the details from the event log are: 0x000000ab (0x00000001, 0x00000050, 0x00000000, 0x00000002)) - the retrieval of solutions from Microsoft done by vista was unsuccessful all the times. The STOP happens exactly at one of two steps of using the vista machine:Either in the moment of closing the remote desktop session from XP using the command [start menu] - click the trinangle right of the "power" and the "lock" button - [Log Off] (this is the way I use to close r.d. from XP watching 2003 servers) - or (after having left the session on XP by clicking the [X] in mstsc) while picking up the still open session locally on the vista machine (after entering C-A-D, clicking on the session icon and entering the password) exactly in the moment of pressing [Enter].System: Vista 6.0.6000 - Business - german version - OEM. This takes place since the first use of remote desktop after clean install last March.Windows updates: up to date. No change ever since.I didn't notice any coincidence between open applications and the system crash.I installed ultravnc 1.0.3 RC6 about two months ago (this runs more stable than windows remote desktop but it can't deal with vista's UAC and switching to protected screen properly - that's why I need remote desktop). No change in behaviour of remote desktop - still crashing, still the same STOP error.Installed last week an updated driver for my NVIDIA Quadro NVS 285 from nvidia.com - had a huge effect speeding up my system but no change in this case.Anyone any ideas how to get this going?
