I have exactly the same situation you describe. I'll be watching to see if anyone offers a fix before I give up on Vista like so many others and install XP.

Hello Michel, Do you have a sofware firewall either Windows Live OneCare, ZoneAlarm, or Norton installed on the XP machine? Would you provide the ipconfig/all output from both computers? If you haven't already be sure to check out this TechNet article which will help you walk throught the steps of file and printer sharing with Vista. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

Hi Michel, Regarding this issue, please provide the whole error message for further research. In addition, please understand that there is a security policy restricting network connectivity with blank password. As a result, you can also try the following suggestions to resolve the issue: ============ 1. Please create the same user account with the same password on both Windows XP and Windows Vista machines. Logon the Windows Vista machine with this account and try to access the share folder. 2. Alternatively, you can enable the Guest account on the Windows XP machine. Hope it helps. I am also having the same problem. I get the following message:\\COMPUTER is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.I was previously able to access this computer with my Vista Machine on my home network. This error seems to have started when Service Pack 3 was distributed through Automatic Updates. I have checked to the guest account and it was already enabled. I'm not happy with this situation, and I am waiting for this issue to be resolved by our "friends" at Microsoft. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?Jeff Flora

I have exactly the same problem as Jeff FLora -- happened immediately after SP 3 was installed. ANY HELP OUT THERE?
