This is a follow up to the thread started on April 22, 2007 (subject as above). which is labeled "answered". I think not. To restate the issue: 1. OS Vista; IE 7 2.In Windows Explorer Folder Options,check "show hidden files and folders" and uncheck"hide protected operating system files". 3. Open IE, click Tools, Internet Options;on the General Tab, click Settings under "Browsing history", then click View Files. This gives you a list of Temporary Internet Files, but not "hidden" files. On the address bar, add "\Content.IE5", so that it now reads "C:\Users\[your name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5". Some additonal sub-folders now appear under Temporary Internet Files. 4. On the left panel, right click on the Temporary InternetFiles (TIF) folder,click Properties.(Note that the number of files and foldersare farmore than the files and folders thatare listed in TIFandall ofitssub-folders.) Write down thesize of the TIF folder. If this size isclose to the capacity setfor TIF (which it probably is),delete some of the files if you want to follow along withthe example below. 5. Go to YouTube or Googlevideo and view a somewhat lengthly video. (I would recommend video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4776181634656145640or www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT-_2oAdN40, which is about 10-11meg.) 6. Refresh theTIF folder, noting NO new visible files. 7. Now, right click on Temporary InternetFiles,click Properties, and note that the size of the TIF folder has gone up by about the size of the video file that was saved in the TIF folder, but the video fileis NOT VISIBLE. If you do the same thing using XP (as I did on another computer), the TIF folder will have an .flv file (in the case of Google) or a "File" (in case of YouTube). So, the question remains, how can you access the saved video file on Vista??? (Further caveats: I am signed on as administrator, my security/privacy/advanced settings for IE 7are the same on both my Vista andXP computers, andI am using the same version of Norton, with similar settings on both computers.)

Im glad others have noticed this little glitch too, ivwasted the last few days searching my com for all my hiden .flv files that should be on it butwithno luck. im verry disapointed if vista wont let me copy these flash movies from my temp internet files nomore, like i could have with windows XP. i only use my computer for gameing and movies so this brand new machine that cost a fortune isnow only half as good to me as my old one. i am about ready to give up on vista and switch back to XP, except vista seems to have made even formating the harddrive needlessly more complecated by not supplying the formatting discs. i should say that i did manage to find about 4 of the hidden flv files out about 40.but only after downloadinga numberof flv players and grabbers and other junk. i gotthem by searching in"all files and folders" for files over 5MB but this was time consuming and annoying. So if there is an easier way please let me know. i thought about using the transfare settings form 1 computer to another in the system restore menu, hopeing that might work, but i havent tried it yet. please let me knowwhat to do so i can view my flv files easily as i could withXP. there was nothing wrong with that set up and i dont see why vista had to change it to make files super hidden or non existant also i dont know if this is just my computer or not but the amount of temp internet storage i set often resets back to 50MB and the temp files themselves never seem to store any of the actuall pages i look at picturers&movies etc but only the applications i download such as the players and flv grabbers i was planning to fomat my pc back to brand new factory settings and start aginbut without the disks i dontknow how. evenevery "system restore to earrlier time",i try seems to fail

ok guys good new i got my temp files working i can now copy flv files straight from temp internet files and save them without using downloaders grabbers or any other software plusi can view all the internet files .. im soo happy ok i done a few things b4 i checked so im not excelty sure which one worked ill say what i did 1; i completly cleared internet files, both delete history and manually looked and deleted what i could find 2; i moved temp internt files folder by.. IE, tools, internetoptions, settings, move folder (i moved it to) "" C:\Users\UR-NAME \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low "" 3; i then reset internet explorer by ie, tools internet options, advance tab, reset , ok, 4 set the storage disk space to use up to 500MB -tools, internet options, ^500 5 double checked files where set to show and do not hide protected files all files are then in low\content ie5 (there should be 4 folders containing all ur viewed internet stuff) which u can do what u want with btw i should say im no expert with this stuff as u can probably tell but this is what i done and it worked for me good luck guys with ur temp folder issues if anyone wanst to try to impove my explantion or finds a simpler way then fell free to add
