Vista XP File share network questions
I have a XP desktop, up to date, running Windows 1 Live Care. I just bought a lap top running vista, up to date, also with Live Care. The laptop is now my main computer, but I never connect it with ethernet to my network, only wireless for the most part. I have several USB hard drives hooked up to my desktop. One of those I have been connecting to my laptop every week for back-up purposes. Its kind of a hassel. Is there a way I can allow my laptop to connect to my USB hard drives while they are hooked up to my desktop? since I travel with my laptop, will this present any security issues for my laptop? when traveling, Im not conerned with backing-up remotely. Thanks all

Hello skiracer712, Yes, you should be able to connect to your external hard drives from another computer on the network. If you haven't already, please review this TechNet article for file and printer sharing. Since both computers are using Windows Live OneCare, you'll also need to configure it properly for file and printer sharing. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923157 -- Eric Cross Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience) http://mvp.support.microsoft.com
