Vista Wireless doesn't connect to internet anywhere.
Ok so last friday I tried to get on to the university's network. They have a page that auto loads when you connect to their wireless to sign in. That page no longer loads, and I cannot get on the internet (it does say it connects locally). I try to run the diagnose thing, but that just tells me it cannot connect to the primary DNS server. Other wireless computers work on this network (and so does my wi-fi cell). Recently, I've done been able to connect to the internet over other known good wireless networks, although I can do the same thing, and connect locally and be identified. The university people tried a winsock reset, but that did not help. Any suggestions?

Hi Greg, Thank you for the post. First, I would like to confirm the following items with you: 1. Is there other wireless Windows Vista computer that works fine on the universitys network? 2. How does your Windows Vista computer get IP address? Through DHCP? From your description, I notice that the computer is able to connect to the Internet over other wireless networks. In this case, I suggest checking if the wireless AP in the universitys network is fully compatible with Windows Vista. For your reference, Ive included the following articles for troubleshooting the issue: Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233 MSBBN: How to troubleshoot wireless connection problems http://support.microsoft.com/?id=831770 Troubleshooting Windows Vista 802.11 Wireless Connections http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/library/3ed3d027-5ae8-4cb0-ade5-0a7c446cd4f71033.mspx?mfr=true Hope it helps.
