Vista Vers. Routers
I just boughten MS VistaPremuim. Had it running on a D-Link DI-604 for a temp. reasons til I moved and dugged out my Linksys BEFSR41. Both have Firmware updated. The network was running fine, I was able to serf the web no problems, connect to the XP system. Than one day I woke up and nothing. No recent updates installed since last reboot or anything. Kept getting Limited connections, than it'd only give me local 169.* ip's. Pulled out my Linksys and hooked it up and still same problems. Even tried Linksys -> D-Link -> WAN and nothing from Vista. XP is still running no matter how I lay out the network or whatever I do to the router(s). I did some netsh interface set ... work to my Vista. The Vista will get the proper IP, DNS info and everything now, even says its connected to the web. Ping www.google.com or google's IP, ping microsoft, yahoo, othersites, Nothing. And get an error doing >ping www.google.com stating that it couldnt figure that *** out. So I'm out of ideas.... Any solutions to this? Thru windows or hardware? No problem if I need a different router. Latest version of Vista. All updates installed. 1GB RAM 3.0HT Asus M/B. Using onboard NIC. No extra firewalls installed. Just AVG, S&D for security options. Thank you for your time.
