Vista Update error 8024402c
I have searched high and low for a fix to this and have found nothing. My tcp/ip settings are set to obtain details automatically, i have windows firewall turned off and have no other anti-virus or anti-spyware software running. However whenever I try to run the Windows update in Vista Home premium i get a 8024402c error. I connect to the internet through a comtrend wireless router but have no proxies set, its a direct connection. Im pulling my hair out with this as all the things ive seen on the net have provided no assistance. Also this seems to be a common problem with losts of people struggling with it in the same way I am. Any fix for this would be much appreciated, Thanks.

Hi, The Description for error code 8024402C as follow: Either the proxy server or target server name cannot be resolved. Corresponding to ERROR_WINHTTP_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED. Mostly, the issue is caused by a third secure programs or network setting issue. Given the situation, lets check the following points. 1. Are you running any third party applications such as Spyblocker, Internet or web accelerators? I recommend you temporarily disable or shut them down and then try accessing Windows Update later. 2. Did you use a router? I recommend we temporarily bypass it to test Windows Update issue. 3. Did you manually assigned DNS? Please obtain IP address and DNS automatically to test Windows Update issue. (Please backup your settings before doing this steps).
