Vista Ultimate will not lock according to Group Polich after 15 minutes of inactivity
I have a user with a Dell XPS laptop using Windows Vista Ultimate with all the updates and service packs. The client is part of a Windows Server 2008 Domain. The group policy is set to lock the computer after 15 minutes of activity and if they have a screen saver selected that will run as well. This problem exists only on this one client and it is random. It's happened before and I fiddled here and there and it worked again, but I don't recall exactly what it was that fixed it before. Now the problem has come up again. When you right click the deskop and go to the properties and screen saver, it is greyed out so no changes can be made to the 15 minute timeout so I know it is getting the group policy settings. I've gone into the Power Settings and the other options are set to require a ctrl+alt+del to logon after returning from inactivity lock out or sleep. Most searches I've found said it was related to a wireless keyboard and mouse issue. There is no wireless mouse or keyboard. The user is using the keyboard and mouse pad on the laptop itself. I've updated all the drivers from Dell on all hardware. Nothing has changed on this computer since this started. No software was added or removed and no hardware was added or removed. The items running in the systray are the anti-virus, bluetooth, and a cingular (at&t) built in aircard. I've disabled those processes and stopped any unnecessary startup options in msconfig. The problem still exists. I've removed it from the domain and put it back on the domain and that hasn't helped. If anyone has any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi, If there is no wireless mouse or keyboard, check your Network adapter's setting. Please open Device Manager, locate your network adapter, right click on it and select Propertise. Under the Power management tab, uncheck the box before "allow this device to wake up the computer". This is to avoid any data from network keeping the computer awake all the time.
