Vista SP2 no longer recognises administrator password
I recently changed the keyboard profile and geographical region from English(US) to English(UK) using control panel, now my system no longer validates the administrator password. It started to get a bit flaky but I was able to get by using shift keys. I also had some access through another account that still worked. I'm thinking about re-installing and then overwriting the boot.ini file from windows.old. However does this mean that I'll still be locked out of my administrator account. Any advice welcomed thanks

Looks like a problem with permissions. If you manage to log in to the administrator account, try to reset the password and see if that works. You may be able to change it from the other account if you can get into accounts. Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! I can't get into the administrator account (I only have one account with administrator rights on my laptop) so can't change permissions or access rights. Thanks for your input though vegan.

Unfortunately then you are going to have to find your DVD and do an inplace upgrade and see if that helps.Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! I suspect that when you changed the locale to the UK some of the keys were moved around on your keyboard. Of course you can't see the differences if you have a laptop with a US keyboard. Here's a diagram of a standard UK keyboard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout#United_Kingdom, perhaps you can use it to figure out where the characters in your password have moved.Kurt Dillard http://www.kurtdillard.com
