I completed installing Vista RC2 at work and we still use a NT 4 Domain as our PDC"We plan on upgrading to AD in the next year" and I tried the solution outlinedbelow I saw in a different post here on this forumfor the Vista RC1 work around but this does not work in RC2 after completing the steps I still get the same error message. We use WINS Server and I also belive an LMHOST file as well. Can someone please provode a complete detailed outline of everything I should complete in order to get this working. Work Around Attempted "This did not work for me in Vista RC2" 1) Do you configure Vista to use a wins server or a lmhost file? 2) try this "Run as administrator" secpol.msc Under Local Policies > Security Options Change the value of "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level"from "NTVLM2 responses only" to "LM and NTLM - use NTLMv2 session securityif negotiated" Error Im Getting Login Failure: Unknow user name or bad password Do I need to do somthing different in RC2 or possibly an addtional step? Please let me know I really want to start having my staff begin testing Vista RC2 in our current enviorment.

1. SRVMGR.EXE on the PDC and add the computer name of the Vista PC. 2. On Vista PC run, secpol.msc then Under Local Policies > Security Options, 3. Change following - Domain Member: Digitally Encrypt or sign secure channel data (always) - change to disabled- Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level - change to "Send LM and NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negoitated" This worked for me.

This solution did not workfor me with an Asus V6F laptop (Vista Business, SP1). I have no problem joining Dell VOSTRO 1400 (Vista Business SP1) to our NT domain. Is there something peculiar with Asus laptop?

This worked for me. I was having problems for two whole weeks after carrying out installation ofsome security updates. Saves me from having to unlock my NT4 account and finally able to access the network resources. Thanks!
