Vista Problems & Windows 7 Suggestions
One of the reason's windows vista is having negative feedback's is because of the common "Blue screen".It is mostly caused by unfunctional driver's or applications. Memory also plays a part here. And also, the Window's Uninstaller is being substitued by other uninstallers due to sudden freezes/not responding when uninstalling or sometime's even loading the programs installed.Window's sidebar is a big memory consumer. It should be dockable and undockable to allow the user to move it around the desktop freely.Internet explorer take's a long time to start and close. Also the internet explorer downloader take's a long time to pick up speed. It even went to 16.5bytes/sfor me at 90%(It sometime's wont reconnect after I get disconnected from the internet). Getting multiple connection's would increase the speed. Also, when i move a window to the bottom of the screen, the taskbar blocks the mouse from clicking the window again, thus you have to open another window. Most of the time, some taskbar's icon's wont load like sound, internet icon, battery and other icon'sSuggestions for Windows 7:Mouse click.Instead of double-clicking, the user can right-click and then left-click to double-click.For user's without mouse wheel's, double-left click on images to zoom in and double-right click to zoom out.Touch pad.Auto-hold a window frame when left-clicked on once. The user drag's it to a different place (like dragging a file) and it unhold's when clicked on the frame/anywhere else.Windows Task manager. After ending one process, the application process is still shown. But after ending another process, the first application process will be deleted.Secure Deletion. Some user's may accidentally delete some important OS file/virus delete's the files(even if the OS does not allow file's in use to be deleted). By disabling deletion of major system file's, there would be less reformatting and less system failure's.Programmable keyboard buttons.By making the new Windows 7 a more user-friendly OS, there should be a programmable keyboard. Like pressing, for example, CTRL+1 - it would open Windows Media Player. And of course a default button to restore any changes made.Recently downloaded file's for Internet Explorer. There should be an added option to view all the download's from the web browser itself.Built-in Optimizer. If a user has problems using Windows 7 or their computer is freezing, a built-in optimizer would fix the problem's causing the computer to freeze.Well I'm out of suggestions! If you were reading, thank you.

I used Vista on an older motherboard (ASUS) with a ATI X800XT AGP video card and I have had lots of BSOD's BUT I know exactly why. Drivers. The Intel chip on the ASUS board does not have Vista drivers and although I got it to work with drivers from XP, it does not work well and mostof my BSOD's were from the ATI Catalyst drivers. I lived with it knowing all this. It is not Vistas fault. I finally built a computer using up-to-date components that have Vista drivers from the manufacturer and the system runs great (also Windows 7).

It is almost always caused by third party drivers or dodgy hardware. So to that extent it isn't really a problem with the OS anyway.Having run NT versions of Windows since NT4, I can honestly say I can't remember the last time I had a BSOD. I'm sure they have happened, but honestly, it must be a few years ago that the last one occurred. Certainly before Vista came out.I've always been religious about using good quality hardware and stable drivers, which must have helped a lot.Thack
