Vista Problem
Hi all Not sure if this belongs here as I seem to have a few problems with Vista (May I say I hate this OS). Booted up the laptop the other day just to have vista load and then the whole thing lock up on me. After many failed attempts to get it working, I went into dos prompt and tried to format the laptop so I can install XP (which I like better). This is a rented laptop and DID NOT come with the vista disc, it was pre-installed. Onto the problem, I dont have admin password on vista BUT when I try and format the laptop it tells me I dont have admin priveledges to do this. I have tried to make the laptop boot into the XP cd and it reads it, but then I get the blue screen of death. Does anyone have any ideas at all? I cant even run a anti-virus program on it as it locks up within 2 minutes of booting up.

Hi, What is the drive, SATA or IDE? You may need to configure settings in BIOS. If it is IDE, you need Windows XP SP2 installation disk.
