Vista Passwords
1. How do we provide feedback for future editions of Windows? 2. The feedback I would like to provide comes from using Vista - there does not seem to be a way to create a new password and confirm the new password, without literally "putting it to the test" by being locked out and needing to use the password to get back in - unless I'm missing something. I would like to suggest that in the area where passwords are created, changed, deleted - there also be a way to test the current or prospective password - perhaps a field where the password could be input, and a button for submitting the password. If the password is the current password, then an alert message would appear saying something like "Yes, that is the password."

When one enters a new password one enters it twice. Thanks, David. That’s true, there is verification that the input is the same. But, there is no way to verify that the input is what the user expected. Let’s say the same mistake was made the same way twice – easy to do with clumsy-fingers like mine. I wouldn’t know, for instance, that I had accidently capitalized the same letter in both instances. All I would know, when I went to gain entry to my system, is that I did not have the new password. Attached are two screen shots not showing the dual entry you talked about, but showing (2) the next screen – with no indication of whether the password was changed, or not, and (3) a suggestion about a screen that could provide a confirmation test. 2. The next screen with no indication about the password change. 3. Suggestion:

http://connect.microsoft.com/ Thanks! One thing is for sure, Microsoft is organized. Unfortunately, I do not know enough about the organization to know what to call my idea and where it might fit. I followed the link you recommended, and typed in "Windows" and got the following list. I guess they are Microsoft projects currently in development. But, I don't know what they mean - or do - or which ones would be interested in my idea. And, I noticed there is an even longer list of Microsoft projects that are not accepting bugs or suggestions. I guess they have no way of keeping ideas in their database until they can be used, so they do not want to hear from anyone. Maybe my idea for testing passwords will be lost because Microsoft has no place to keep this idea? Following is the list of Windows projects that are accepting bugs and/or suggestions:

Once you could send email to mswish@microsoft.com but that address no longer works. Wait for the Windows 8 beta and connect.microsoft.com will probably take suggestions for it. -- .. -- "Fax and Scan User" wrote in message news:90e8109e-d857-4ea6-a6db-342204f07aef... > http://connect.microsoft.com/ > > > Thanks! > > One thing is for sure, Microsoft is organized. > > Unfortunately, I do not know enough about the organization to know what to > call my idea and where it might fit. > > I followed the link you recommended, and typed in "Windows" and got the > following list. Hi, I will report this to our related department. Also, customers with a Premier contract with Microsoft can submit a DCR (Design Change Request) to request product teams to review the design based on your business case (filing a DCR does not guarantee changes to design). Thank you for your effort and cooperation. Thanks - we're all in this together - all stakeholders in a better Microsoft. But - Asking customers to wait for a "window" of opportunity to make product suggestions, or to buy a more expensive contract just to make product suggestions, is asking too much of your customers. Can I sell you a copy of MS Dynamics - to provide a bettter customer suggestion box? Sabrina, I appreciate you doing this for me, this time. Steven

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Is the point that I don't have to worry too much about the password if I can just reset it?
