Vista Offline files long delays
Hi All,I am setting up vista workstations to use dfshare redirected folders and offline files. This works perfectly online and offline at work, however whenI connect to a network that does not have access to our dfshares (either a home network or wireless) I receive long delay log times before it goes offline and even then the system seems to lock up randomly as if searching for something. In some cases this canbe upto 10 minutes +. However once disconnecting the networking cableor disabing the wireless the system comes back online.I can find no mention of a support article however the following link shows some one else is having the problem.http://www.vistax64.com/vista-file-management/104275-vista-offline-files-over-1-minute-delay-access-files.htmlAny help is appreciated with this problem, as we want our users to be able work seamlessly.CheersGreg Turnbull

Hi Greg, Thank you for posting. I know that the offline files take a long time to go offline and the system freezes sometimes when the computer doesnt connect to the work network. Going offline will take some time. It may take longer due to the network environment or there is a share which has the same name with the share on your work network. Therefore, please ping the network shares name when you are not in your work network to see if the address can be resolved as IP Address. Based on my research, I would like to suggest trying the following: 1. Check your local Group Policy settings. You can go to User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files and in Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Offline Files in the Group Policy Object Editor snap-in to check the related settings to see ifsome settingsare not proper. 2. Please disconnect your home network Internet connection to see if it works. If you use router to connect to Internet at home, please disconnect to the Internet connection and just leave the LAN to have a check. 3. If possible, you can try to clean up the Offline cache. If you can take the computer to another network (except the work network and home network), please check if it can work then.
