Vista Networking problems with windows 98
Hello: I have a Windows Vista installed on a new Dell that i just got, and i connect to the network at work, i have another XP computers that connect without any problem, but i have two computer with windows 98 (non second edition). I Can check, drop and copy information from the Vista PC to the Win98 PC, but when i try to use any information with the WIN98 PC take it out or using on the Vista PC it says that the network resource its not longer exist! It doesnt let me write or use any information from the Vista PC into the Win98 PC, i know that with the VISTA you can accept users rights and also i know that you can assign owner properties etc. but i alreay check and gave the same priviliges to this computer as the same on the Xp PC's that i have. And still doesnt work.. It's Windows Vista Networking topology compatible with Windows 98? or 95? Thanks in advance. JGPG

I am able to share files with an ME machine, so win 98 should be able to. Unplug your router from the Internet and set everything wide open to see if you can get it working. Turn off firewall software on both computers. Set the file/folder to share with no passwords required and add the everyone group with complete admin level permissions. This is a good test. If it works, then you can start adding stuff back in. Be sure your router isn't blocking traffic also. Good luck.
