Vista Networking Problem
For the last few days, my relatively new HP laptop with Vista has been unable to see the other computers on my network; the other computers see the Vista laptop, but when I try to access it from the other computers, I get an error message saying that no network path exists. One of the other computers is an HP with Windows XP and the other is a Mac desktop with OS10. Prior to this, all computers were able to see and access each other with no problems. About 2 weeks ago I installed a new Linksys router, but everything worked just fine till about 5 days ago. I haven't made any other changes to any of the computers or the router. The XP PC and the Mac can still see and access each other. The Vista laptop is accessing the internet fine through the Linksys router. Although I haven't made any changes to any of the computers, I have nevertheless gone through the whole routine and confirmed all tlhe usual items - same workgroup name, network discovery is turned on, etc.Any help would be appreciated!Kris

Hi, Since this kind of issue is usually firewall related, please temporarily disable the firewall (including the Windows Firewall) and uninstall the antivirus, and then check the result. If the issue persists, follow these steps: 1. add the same account and password to all of the computers on your network. 2. Make this account administrator on the computers. 3. Logon with this account and check the result. 4. If the issue persists, open a Command Prompt on Windows Vista, and then type the following commands and let me know the output:net use \\IPAddressofXPMachine\ShareFolder, and then press Enter.net view /domain:WorkgroupName and then press Enter.net view \\IPAddressofXPMachine and then press Enter. Hope it helps.
