Vista IPv6 with IPSec not establishing connection.
Hello All, This maybe a question that has problem already been asked, but when I was working on a lab deployment of IPv6 I kept running against a problem with integrating IPSEC with IPv6. To begin, let me give a quick preview as to what the lab setup is like. The following computers are in the lab. 2 - Windows Server 2008 (x64)RTM Domain Controllers. 3 - WIndows Vista Enterprise (x64) All of these computers have the latest updates, as well as the Vista computers having Vista SP1. The problem that I have been noticing, is that when we deploy IPv6, the computers are never able to connect to each other using any of the IPSEC rules that is built in with Windows Server 2008. When any of the IPSEC rules are applied, failed audits keep showing up in the event log saying that the reason for its failure is that it cannot find a authority to preform authentication. I have tried the policies with IPv4, and they never come up with those events in the event log. Is IPSEC not yet fullysupported with IPv6? Any suggestions strongly apprecieated. Thank you for all of your time. JZican

Hi JZican,In Windows Vista, IPsec support for IPv6 traffic is the same as that for IPv4. For more information, you may refer to the following article: New Networking Features in Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vistahttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb726965.aspxAs a result, I suggest further checking the rules in Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.
