Vista Hosts file unchangable
I am using Vista Professional 32bit and my user is set as Administrator. I have a right clicked on notepad and selected run as administrator, then located the Hosts file and I have deleted the content that malware put there and but I can not save the file. I succesfully copied the file and modified it while in safe mode but it won't let me delete or paste over the original. The file is a Read-Only and it also won't let me change it to Non Read-Only. I have tired from reading posts that haven't solved the problem. I have run several different virus/spyware programs and all have said the pc is clean. I am just about ready to take a sludge hammer to the laptop. If anyone actually knows how to fix this please post. Thanks.

Hi, What is this hosts file? Did you try to temporarily disable the third party security programs and boot the computer in Clean Boot to test this issue? Also, why did you want to delete this hosts file?
