Vista Home Premium and Web Folders
I have an HP Pavilion laptop with Vista home premium. I can successfully use the Add Network Location function to add a 'Web Folder' to my Internet domain. However, I always have an empty folder resulting. I am not prompted for authentication. On my desktop running Vista Ultimate I have no issues. I can also use the 'Map Network Drive' tool and login as different user to map a drive to the domain, again with an empty folder resulting. If I use an FTP URL instead of WWW I am prompted forauthentication and can see the FTP folder contents. I do have Office 2003 on the Desktop but not on the laptop, but I have installed the MS update KB907306) to enable Web Folders. I am using Windows Live OneCare on both units. Any help will be appreciated ken

Hi kenmass. Have you already solved this issue? I have the same problem and still no solution. What is confusing it's that 2 client machines: Vista Business and Vista Home PremiumCAN access the web folder. But a third one (Vista Home Premium based)can't!!! I've already imported the certificate and also installed the WEBDAV update which states it applies to all editions of Windows Vista, but no luck... Any IT Pro who can help us? Thanks in advance.

So this would allow double clicking in WebDAV folders on Vista???? I love you if so.

Well it seemed to work until i tried to upload something.....then it told me it was uploading at 20 megabytes per second which is of course impossible given that I'm a 54 megabit per second wireless network.....and then my computer crashed.Score another one for WebDAV on Vista

Interesting... 1.Were you able to browse your web-share with user-friendly double-clicks? 2. Uploading problems?...that's strange. I cannot replicate the same problem in mi PC. What about you client PC configuration? Any details about the server-side? Are you using SSL? Firewalls? 2. 20 MB/sec....that's weird...maybe you can try this link. Basically it says to run the next command and verify what happens: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled Hope this helps.

Yes I was able to double click in the folder and it showed the contents correctly at first. All *** broke loose though when I tried to upload.I have a file server running windows storage server 2003 and the client is running Vista enterprise with SP1 and the webfolders patch from Microsoft. WebDAV is configured to use SSL and the server is running windows firewall with port 443 open.I tried a few 3rd party webdav clients and BitKinex seems to be working reasonably well, but I don't want to have to buy it for all users of the server. I may just do it though since Microsoft seems to have no interest in fixing WebDAV in vista.I will try the technique on your link when I get home from work, thanks.
