Vista DHCP issues... unable to obtain an IP
Today I replaced my router at home (configured to be a DHCP server) and all the sudden my Vista laptop can't get an IP from it. I've tried wired (numerous ports, wireless, and through a switch. All my other clients (WinXP & Win2003) have no problems... some are laptops, some are servers/desktops, and some are virtual machines. However, when I put in a static IP manually, set the gateway & DNS server, all works perfectly. I'm certain it's not the router... maybe a config on the router I'm missing that's special for Vista?
I've had the exact same problem within some hotels... where I can't ever obtain an IP from their DHCP servers. I've also made sure I've got the latest NIC drivers (for both the wired port & wireless port). Also made sure the firewall was disabled (OneCare)... and checked the event log...nothing.
For the record, this is a Dell Latitude D820 with a Broadcom NexXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller.
Ideas?

It may be worth looking at your services to make sure the DHCP client service is configured to start automatically and is in fact started.

By default in VISTA Ping packets are blocked.
Try the debugging technics that are mentioned at http://blogs.technet.com/teamdhcp/archive/2007/10/26/unable-to-obtain-ip-address-for-vista-machine-steps-to-debug.aspx
Thanks
