Vista Business - Slow opening of files from 2003 file server, but fast transfer between them
Hi Everyone,We have a strange problem.3 PC's running Vista Business and file Server 2003 R2. 100 Mbit network. If someone wants to edit a picture (60 MB) located on file server directly with already started Photoshop (or other programs) it takes 20-30 sec. to be opened. If I copy this picture to Vista's hard drive from file server the transfer is perfect. Copieng for 5 sec. and opening for 2 sec.If someone wants to edit the same picture (60 MB) located on Vista PC directly with already started Photoshop (or other programs) it takes 7 sec. to be opened. This slows down our work triple.May be we tried everything written on the net about Vista and Win 2003 Server R2 networking, but nothing helped. (We Disabled Auto Tuning, IPv6; MTU setting; Offline Files, Remote Differential Compression, Vista Index, anti-virus; NIC and switch settings; CopyFileBufferedSynchronousIo registry entry; latest NIC drivers; SMB 2.0, Windows Explorer Navigation Pane...)Any other suggestions?

Hi, Thank for your posting. As I cannot re-produce your problem on my test environment, I cannot point out the root cause. Given the situation, I would like to share the following KB for you. Hope it helps. A Windows Server 2003-based computer responds slowly to RDP connections or to SMB connections that are made from a Windows Vista-based computer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947773/en-us Thanks.
