Vista Business/ Server 2003 Authentication Issues
I added the first Vista Business PC to our Server 2003 domain and have two problems. I cannot add a printer when joined to the domain. Off the domain, I can add the printer and use it. I get Access Denied when on the domain. I can add the printer off the domain and then use it while on the domain but I still would like to resolve this as it shows me something is wrong. I have a NAS server that I can join with the same account on a Win 2K machine but cannot use that logon on Vista Business. It gives Access Denied. Other machines, no problem. Ive read some posts before posting and: Turned off the internal firewall Disabled IpV6 Is there any documentation to show what is different about Vista and Server 2003 as opposed to earlier Windows?

I am encountering the second part of your issue as well in our environment. Windows Server 2003 is running our AD, and when we try tolog in under a domain-administrative account we get"Access Denied". Yet two other domain accounts, as tested, are capable of logging in. We've tried this on two vistalaptops with the same result. It is something with the server end but can't figure out what. Ideas anyone?

Apparently we just discovered the issue for us. It was a problem, we believe with DES encryption. We're testing out a new cisco VPN system in the building that requires us to switch DES and turn off kerberos authentication. We flipped the checkboxes for the account in question and it works fine now. I guess the DES is different between XP and Vista.
