Vista Business, can't join NT4 domain
I'm having difficulty joining Visa Business PC's to a domain on an NT4 (yes I know it's old)server. I've seen several posts about this and tried their advice to no avail. I've run Server Manager on the NT4 server and manually entered the Vista PC's name. On the Vista PC's I've also run secpol.msc: Local Policies..Security Options and changed the LAN Manager Authentication Level to "Send LM and NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated, and also changed to Domain Member: Digitally Encrypt or sign secure channel date (always) to "disabled". So far I am still not able to join the domain. When I run the wizard to joint the domain I get a message saying "Windows cannotfind an account for your computer in the domain". WHen prompted to enter the computer name and domain I get a window saying "An active directory domain controller for the domain *** could not be contacted." Any ideas?

You can't join a vista machine to an NT4 domain as far as I know. I don't believe here is any NT4 support at all. You can only join vista to an active directory domain.

Since at NT4.0 in vista can not add the Active Directory, you can upgrade your operating system to carry out the operation of Active Directory!
