LeeI've tried kb920698 and I get the following reply:-'The Update does not apply to your system'However, judging from the details it sounds just what I need.system is x64 trying to connect through Netgear RP614 router/NTL cable modem. I understand it is to do with Windows Scaling (RFC1323)The 'item' for the connection properties'Client for Microsoft Networks''RPC Service''Service Provider' is set to 'Windows Locator'However, this setting always becomes unset. DHCP from the router does not respond and I know packets are being sent but no replies. The result is I get the 169.254.127.xxx IP which I believe is a peer-to-peer (ad hoc mode) default. I looked up Netgear pages - which stated they have no plans at the moment to provide for x64 machines through their routers. The Netgear RP614v3 router although it was still happy to allow my existing network (3 XP machines) to access the internet, suddenly they cannot access each other. I wondered if VistaBeta2 had upset the router. I am contemplating reloading the router firmware.Presumably kb920698 is released to get round the majority of routers which have no details of 'Windows Scaling'regards

I am having the same problem. I try to install the update, which seems to be what I need to solve my problems, but I keep getting the "The update does not apply to your system"-message. Does it only apply to a specific build? Do I need to install something else first?

Should these downloads solve the "Local Access Only" and "Unidentified Network" problems?
