Hi All We are having an issue with many of ours and client PCs running Vista BE while attached to a domain, I say attached to a domain as my home PC running Ultimate, screams along so quick that it actually beds all myths about performance with Vista, but honestly upon comparing H/W specs there is little difference except that my home PC is 64bit and most of our laptops and clients PCs are 32bit. This is not to say that performacne is always poor, it is just on startup, after 20-30 minutes everything is running smoothley, ??. Upon further investigation, I noticed that every startup the HDD light is going crazy and note that soon as it settles down, performance is restored. I ran up perfmon to try and isolate the issue, during startup the disk utilisation runs @ 100% Highest Active Time and we around 10mbp on the chart, scrolling through the processes, I noticed that the system.exe process had written over 130mb and seemed to be the busier service on startup. Also noting that speed did not seem to get very high. So I am struggling to wonder on this issue is 2 things, is there a driver or disk system error that is preventing access to decent speeds (Noting this happens on many models of PCs, mostly IBM and HP workstations and laptops) or is there some strange thing that when a PC is added to a domain, it looses its head and makes life hard, processing who knows what. Note: I regularly Defrag, this seems not to be a great issue, I did some packet sniffing while logon is running and there is very little traffic generated by a PC on logon, so I am pretty sure latency accessing network resources is out of th question. Does anyone else have this issue, I have struggled to find any answer or suggestion that might help. Thanks Mike

whats thePhysical disk % disk time? Also how many hard faults are you recieving in memory after login?
