Vista .dll Registration with a non Local Admin account
Hey, I am in the final stages of preparing a standard Desktop Vista image to rollout, and I have an app that all staff use whichtries to register hhactivex.dll on startup, non local admin accounts don't seem to be able to this (UAC is off). It performs fine when logged in asa Local Administrator. Can I use a "Software Restriction Policy" or some other Group Policy function to allow staff to register this .dll file? I can't just register it once using an admin account to fix thisas this registration is done every time the App (ePass)starts. This is the only application that I haven't been able to get working on Vista with non-admin privileges. I have tried using a "Software Restriction Policy" with group policy to allow unrestricted access for the .DLL (with a hash rule) but that isn't really the problem as the user can access the .dll fine, they just don't have the privileges to register it.Any help appreciated. Cheers - Pagey EDIT: Manual registration attempt for hhactivex.dll results in the following. The Module "c:\blahblah\xxxxx.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005.

I want to know why we have to register the dll every time the App starts. As I know, dll only need to be registered onceon acomputer. Has it ever been registered into the registry?

No idea, I have a helpdesk request in with the software vendor.I think it might be part of a self updating function, everytime the app starts it resyncronizes a directory on the local PC which contains the application, then it tries to register this .dll, I guess it is so if a newer version of the .dll is syncronized to the PC it gets registered. It is going to be easier if I can fix this at my end, rather than wait for the developers to get back to me.
