Vista - throubles with networking
Hello!I understand, my question is a bit vague and even stupid, but I unfortunately have very little info and nevertheless must remotely resolve the problem. So I'm just asking for any suggestions where the root of the problem should be looked for.In short, a user with a vista notebook tries to connect it to the network, in a university campus. As far as I know, the university uses Hornet system, so that only computers with right MAC addresses can connect to the net. MAC address of the notebook was correctly added to the security database, but the comp neverthereless cannot connect. A message of unplugged cable appears. Firewall settings seem to not have been changed. I'm not sure Norton Security can have any effect on the network connectivity (at least, at L2 level ISO/OSI). No additional software was required to install on the comp, says the IT service. Unfortunately, IT service never dealt with Vista, so they have no ideas how to manage the problem...Physically, network connection is ok, it was tested.Maybe, anyone of you knows where to look up, for which Vista network options?..Regards,Tieken.
