Vista - The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed
Hi,I've already seen the other threads with related topics but have found no answer to my problem, so lets hope someone can help me...I'm a domain administrator, and, logged on as domain, haverenamed my "normal" domain user. After that i can't login with my normal user on my Vista - it says "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed"; nevertheless, i can login on my XP or on my Windows 7 without any problem.I triedrenaming it back, but the problem remains. In despair, I purged the profile for that user on the machine, believing it would let me login and create a new profile, but the problem remains with the same symptoms. It doesn't make sense to me to rejoin the machine to the domain, as I can login with other domains users, and I can't figure what else to do. Does anyone have any suggestion?TIAAmrico

I purged the profile for that user on the machine, believing it would let me login and create a new profile, but the problem remains with the same symptoms.I can login with other domains users I like the way you were going: to remove the username and addit back, but with a bit more thoroughness:On the local machine, log in as admin:1) In User Accounts Control Panel, remove the username (if listed).2) In C:\Users, remove the usernamefolder3) In regedit, expand HKLM => Software =>Microsoft => Windows NT => Current Version =>ProfileList, and then find the S-1-5... folder that has a "ProfileImagePath" that references the username and delete that S-1-5... folder4) Log in with the domain username in question"All things are possible, but not all things are permissible"

I've run in to this problem a couple of times on Dell laptops running Vista SP2 (32-bit). The easiest fix is to turn off the wireless, restart, then log in. I've run in to issues with Vista and WiFi before, specifically, losing my server synced documents folder when I take my laptop away from the office. If I turn off the wireless, restart, then turn my wireless on after the resart, my documents folder magically appears. I do the same thing with "Trust relationship" issue and it always works. Our server is SBS2003. If anyone knows why this happens, let me know. I'm pretty sure it's a Vista bug but don't know for sure. Either way, try logging in with wireless off and see if it works...that is, if you're using wireless.
