Vista, BitLocker, and TPM
Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone else is having problems getting Vista/BitLocker to read/recognize aTPM 1.2 chip? I have the chip enabled in the BIOS and it is listed in Device Manager under Security Devices. However, it it not recognized by the TPM.MSC management console or themanage-bde.wsf script. The TPM management console will not recognize the chip at all. And if I run the script with the -tpm parameter (no other information is given forthis parameter) it returms 'missing parameter'. FWIW, I have Vista RC1 installed on a Gateway M280 laptop with the latest BIOS installed. TIA, Alex

Alex, BitLocker requires particular things of the computer's BIOS as well, so I would contact the computer manufacturer as specifically ask if the BIOS is "Vista-logo-compliant", or when it will be. Prior to the actual release of Vista, most computer manufacturers do not seem to have publicly available BIOSes, but it is not something we can control. - Byron Hynes
